Cynthia Ann McKinney was a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives (1993–2003, 2005–2007) and was the Green Party nominee for the 2008 U.S. presidential election.
She served two terms as a state representative, and in 1992 she ran successfully for the U.S. House of Representatives. During her tenure in Congress, McKinney served on the armed services and international relations committees.
In 2008 at the Green Party convention in Chicago, McKinney was nominated as the party’s candidate for president in that year’s election.
